Official data sources used by SafePlot.

Data Sources

SafePlot displays property risk and planning data from official UK government sources. All map datasets are served via the Planning and housing data in England platform (run by the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government) and are published under the Open Government Licence v3.0.

We offer a selection of these datasets for public use, with additional datasets available when you sign in (free of charge).

Listed Buildings

Data owner: Historic England — all listed buildings designated with grade classifications (I, II*, II).

Flood Zones

Data owner: Environment Agency — areas identified as being at risk of flooding from rivers or the sea, used to inform flood risk assessments and planning decisions.

Green Belt

Data owner: Local planning authorities — land designated as green belt by local authorities across England.

Agricultural Land Classification

Data owner: Natural England / local planning authorities — classified grades of agricultural land.

Ancient Woodland

Data owner: Natural England — Ancient Woodland Inventory. © Natural England copyright. Contains Ordnance Survey data © Crown copyright and database right.

Nutrient Neutrality Catchments

Data owner: Natural England — catchment areas where new development must not add nutrient load.

Heritage at Risk

Data owner: Historic England — the Heritage at Risk register.

Scheduled Monuments

Data owner: Historic England — nationally important archaeological sites.

Sites of Special Scientific Interest

Data owner: Natural England — nationally protected wildlife and geological sites.

Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty

Data owner: Natural England — nationally protected landscapes.

Postcode data

Source: ONS Open Geography Portal — the ONS Postcode Directory (ONSPD), used for postcode search with autocomplete.
