Overview
SafePlot is a free tool for viewing UK property risk and planning information. This policy explains how we handle data when you use the service, including when you sign in.
Information We Collect
Sign-In
Signing in lets you access additional datasets. When you sign in (via an OIDC provider), we receive and store your account identifier, name and email address so we can recognise you and enable the datasets you’re entitled to. You can sign out at any time.
Searches
When you search for a postcode or click on the map, your query is processed to display the relevant information. We do not create marketing profiles from your map usage unless you opt in to marketing communications.
Cookies and Advertising
SafePlot is funded by advertising through Google AdSense. This means:
- Google may use cookies to show relevant advertisements
- Google collects technical information (browser type, device, IP address) for ad delivery
- You can manage ad preferences at Google Ad Settings

Analytics
We collect anonymous, aggregated statistics to understand how the service is used:
- Total page views and searches
- General feature usage
- Website performance
This data is not linked to individual users.
Third-Party Services
Google AdSense
Google AdSense displays advertisements on SafePlot. Google’s use of cookies and data collection is governed by their Privacy Policy.
Map Tiles
The map uses OpenStreetMap tiles, which are subject to the OpenStreetMap Privacy Policy.
Data Sources
SafePlot displays publicly available data from UK government sources, served via the Planning and housing data in England platform, together with ONS postcode data. A selection of datasets is available to everyone, with additional datasets unlocked when you sign in.
We access this data from official government sources and do not combine it with personal information.
Your Choices
You can:
- Decline non-essential cookies via the cookie banner
- Manage ad personalisation at Google Ad Settings
- Use your browser’s private/incognito mode
- Block cookies through your browser settings
Data Security
All connections to SafePlot use HTTPS encryption.
Your Rights
Under UK data protection law, you have rights regarding personal data including the right to access, correct, or request deletion of your data. If you sign in, the account details we hold are limited to what’s needed to provide the service, and you may request deletion at any time.
